The Tree House
The clients desire for a small affordable home with modern and clean lines was married with their need for functionality in a space for a growing family to create this unique energy efficient space. The design utilized a steep shed roof sloped to receive maximum solar gain increasing energy efficiency and long term affordability. The main roof element is broken with a secondary roof to reduce the buildings visual massing. High ceilings and large windows create the illusion of a large space in a relatively modest sized family dwelling. Rooms and spaces were created with the intent and use always at the forefront; including built in tiny children's bedrooms, floor to ceiling tiled bathroom (for washing pets after a beach run), and open concept living-kitchen-extra bedroom space for multi use and maximization of limited space. A truly comfortable small family home with a big spacious feel.
